Executive Council Highlights

 Highlights of November 18, 2006 Meeting

Location: The meeting was called to order at the SCP Office at 10:13 am

Present: D. Blackman, M. Vandergoot, J. Curry, J. Dudgeon, F. Lalonde, S. Jacobson, L. Vilness, M. Reeves

  1. There are currently 491 members in the College including 383 Full Practising, 63 Provisional and 45 Non-Practising. Twelve Provisional members are awaiting their Oral Exams.
  2. The Member Information section of the College website will be expanded to include a page where questions members have posed to the Professional Practices and Ethics Committee could be displayed along with the responses provided.
  3. Janet Pippen, a representative from the ASPPB, visited the College Office and discussed various issues such as degrees earned through distance education programs.
  4. An Ad Hoc Committee will be formed as a sub-committee of the Registration Committee to address the question of distance education degrees.
  5. the Council of Provincial Associations of Psychology (CPAP) plans to divide into two groups; one to continue as CPAP with the provincial associations and the other to be called the Association of Canadian Psychology Regulatory Organizations (ACPRO) which will include the licensing and regulatory organizations from across Canada. The SCP supported this move and will join ACPRO.
  6. The following documents were posted to the website:
    • Information M. Vandergoot brought back from the October meeting of the ASPPB.
    • The advisory Use of Title, Title Format and Abbreviation was posted.
    • Notices were posted regarding the policies on Non-Practice Membership Status, Limited Liability Partnerships and Professional Corporations.
    These documents are available from the College Office.
  7. Nominations will be posted to the College website on January 6th 2007.
