Executive Council Highlights

 Highlights of September 27, 2008 Meeting

 

Location: The meeting was called to order at the SCP Office at 9:00 am.

Present: S.Jacobson, G.Stevens, J.Curry, L.Vilness, S.Hengen, J.Dudgeon, G.Glaicar, K.Todd, C.Schroeder, J.Keller

Others: K.Messer-Engel, Registrar

  1. Council appointed Jenny Keller as a member-at-large to the SCP Executive Council .
  2. Council continued work on the Strategic Plan. Council appointed a Policy Ad Hoc Committee that will draft policies for: Executive Director/Registrar & SCP staff roles & responsibilities, Council roles, Executive Limitations, and Finances.
  3. Council approved an annual registration fee increase to $650.00.
  4. Council approved the hiring for a .5 FTE clerical/receptionist position for the SCP office.
  5. K. Messer-Engel reported that there were 490 members of the College. Of these, 404 were full practicing, 50 were provisional, and 36 were non-practicing. There are 9 pending members.
  6. Council approved that Merilee Rasmussen be enlisted to review formulation of legislation change to the registration process.
  7. Council approved that the Registration Committee hold any files of an “uncertain nature” until there is greater clarity provided by Council on interpreting the phrase “degree from a recognized university”.
  8. Council received the response re: AIT (Agreement on Internal Trade) from the Registrar, dated May 13, 2008 , with appreciation and endorses the position stated by the Registrar. The president will communicate this position to the appropriate Ministry.
  9. Council accepted the following nominations and resignations as recommended by the Registrar. Nominations are: Terri Dumelie – Registration Committee , Kristen Bellows – Oral Examination Committee , and Jim Arnold – Professional Conduct Committee. The resignation is Rhonda Gough – Professional Conduct Committee.
  10. Council approved the creation of an Ad Hoc Committee for Policy Revision consisting of Florence Lalonde, Judy Curry , Karen Todd, and Steve Jacobsen.
