 Highlights of May 26, 2007 Meeting

 

Location: The meeting was called to order at the SCP Office at 10:01 a.m

  1. As of May 26, 2007 there were 486 members registered in the Saskatchewan College of Psychologists. Of these, 377 were Full-Practicing, 58 were Provisional and 51 were Non-Practicing members. Eleven Provisional members were awaiting their oral examinations. Four memberships were pending.
  2. The 2008 AGM will be held in Regina, March 15th 2008. It will be held in conjunction with a Continuing Education session proposed topic: the disciplinary process and the implications for liability.
  3. Council planned to invite Committee representatives to a retreat on October 26th in Regina.
  4. The U. of S., the U. or R., PSS, SEPA, SaskHealth and SaskLearning will be invited to attend Dialogue meetings either in Saskatoon September 14th 2007 or in Regina September 21st 2007.
  5. M. Vandergoot, K. Messer-Engel and S. Jacobson will meet with representatives of the Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers (SASW) on August 24th to discuss the SASW's desire to expand diagnostic privilege to some of its members.
  6. Council passed a motion stipulating that all APE applications are to be considered by a panel of three psychologists.
  7. Council discussed options for strategic planning. Several facilitators were considered and Council decided to retain Valerie Sluth to do a preliminary environmental scan, facilitate the planning process and write up the final strategic plan which will be shared with the membership. Her proposal included provision of recommendations and worksheets to assist Council in implementing the plan.
  8. Application forms for Professional Corporations and Limited Liability Partnership were approved by Council and will be available on the College website.
