 Highlights of March 3, 2007 Meeting

 

Location: The meeting was called to order at the SCP Office at 12:18 p.m

Present: D. Blackman, M. Vandergoot, J. Curry, J. Dudgeon, S. Jacobson, F. Lalonde, W. Lyons, L. Vilness

Others: K. Messer-Engel, Registrar

  1. There are currently 482 members in the College including 370 Full Practising, 60 Provisional and 52 Non-Practising. Eleven Provisional members are awaiting their Oral Exams.
  2. Council regretfully announces that Public Representative W. Streelasky resigned from Council due to his heavy responsibilities as Mayor of Melville. His expertise and involvement were much appreciated.
  3. Consultation with the membership regarding raising fees to allow the use of credit cards resulted in 115 responses with 91% of these opposed to the suggestion. Council agreed that the credit card option would be considered closed.
  4. A concern was raised regarding the use of titles not recognized by the College. K. Messer-Engel will amend the “Title Format and Abbreviation” practice advisory posted on the website and will alert members by e-mail.
  5. Arrangements for the Annual General Meeting and the Ethics workshop with Dr. J. Gauthier were finalized.
  6. Council has been recruiting a new Deputy Registrar and expect to be able to send an announcement to the members in the near future.
  7. Two new committees are being formed: a Third Party Payer Committee and an Ad Hoc Committee on Distance Education Terms of Reference. Members who are interested in volunteering for any of the College Committees are encouraged to contact K. Messer-Engel.
