Highlights of February 10, 2007 Meeting

- There are currently 481 members in the College including 369 Full Practising, 59 Provisional and 53 Non-Practising. Eleven Provisional members are awaiting their Oral Exams.
- Council regretfully announces the resignation of Public Representative Mary Reeves. Her participation and contribution to the Council and the College were highly valued.
- Council approved the policy Local Requirements for Applicants from Other Jurisdictions Accepted Under the Mutual Recognition Agreement. This policy provides for a period of mentorship to allow new members from other jurisdictions to become familiar with Saskatchewan jurisprudence and codes of conduct.
- K. Messer-Engel and S. Jacobson reported on the CPAP meetings held in Ottawa January 20-21, 2007 . Issues such as the MRA, distance education, and the licensing of Master’s level psychologists in jurisdictions which require doctoral level entry were discussed. Both S. Jacobson and K. Messer-Engel agreed to represent the College at the CPAP meetings in Ottawa June 12, 2007.
- At the Ethics Workshop March 24th Dr. Janel Gauthier will present information on an international initiative he is heading which involves the development of a universal declaration of ethical principles for psychologists.
- Several members had asked to pay their registration fees by credit card. J. Curry reported on the cost involved and Council decided to seek input from members regarding the acceptability of a $20.00 fee increase to cover the expenditure entailed if the College were to offer this option.
- The position of Deputy Registrar was posted and the interview process began on February 9th.
