Executive Council Highlights

 Highlights of August 25, 2007 Meeting

 

Location:The meeting was called to order at the SCP Office at 10:07 a.m.

  1. K. Messer-Engel reported that there were a total of 488 registered psychologists in the province. Of these 384 were Full-Practicing, 54 Provisional and 50 non-practicing. 12 Provisional members were waiting for their oral examinations.
  2. Council was pleased to welcome two new public representatives, G. Glaicar and C. Schroeder.
  3. The Council authorized the Professional Conduct Committee to appoint a representative from its membership to act on behalf of Executive Council in Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) processes. Karen Prisciak associate of Robertson Stromberg in Saskatoon was retained as legal counsel for the PCC.
  4. K. Messer-Engel and C. Frey provided Council with an informative presentation about the discipline process and the procedures used by the Professional Conduct Committee. They will cover the Discipline Committee’s role and procedures at the November meeting.
  5. The membership renewal notices and the President’s message will be distributed in the near future. Information about the Continuing Education Credits (CECs) requirement will be included in the mail-out. Council discussed ways of enforcing the CEC requirement and the importance of the upcoming bylaw regarding CECs was emphasized.
