 Highlights of April 26, 2008 Meeting

Location: The meeting was called to order at the SCP Office at 10:00 am.

1. K. Messer-Engel reported that there were 477 members of the College. Of these, 388 were full practicing, 49 were provisional, and 40 were non-practicing. There are 4 pending members.
2. Laura Vilness is currently the Council Secretary. The Council needs to recruit a new member for the Executive Council.
3. Florence Lalonde was appointed to continue work on the Council policies.
4. The resignation of Carol Frey, Deputy Registrar, was accepted, effective April 30, 2008.
5. Council is reviewing a proposal for positions to support the Registrar and the SCP Office.
6. Council approved a Bylaw for Continuing Education Requirements. It will be forwarded to legal counsel and, subsequently, to Government for approval.
7. Council approved a Policy on Reimbursement of Registration Fees to the Estate of Deceased Members.
8. Council reaffirmed its position regarding diagnostic p rivileges for the SASW. The College recognizes the right of the SASW to pursue their agenda but does not support the creation of a broader exemption statement in the Authorized Practices section of the legislation.
9. Council approved an Advisory for Use of Title Following Resignation for posting on the College website.
10. K. Messer-Engel will attend the ASPPB in Nashville , TN , Oct. 29–Nov. 1, 2008.
