Executive Council Highlights
Highlights of September 6, 2003 Meeting
Location:new SCP Offices 348 Albert St., Regina
Meeting called to order at 10:05 am.
Present: All Executive members except one who gave regrets, the Registrar and Legal Counsel
- The Mental Health Sector Study Report provided by Laurene Wilson was received with thanks. It is being submitted to PSS & SEPA Executives for consideration in the hope that they might find ways to work together, providing input from the professional practice of psychology, and respond to the ongoing changes in Government policies and agency workings.
- Office staff were asked to prepare license renewal invoices for mailing to provide ample time for members to arrange their payment.
- The SCP official address is changed from P.O. Box 3664 to 348 Albert St. Regina, S4R 2N7.
- A contract to examine Oral Interview procedures and best practices for use by the College will be made with a researcher, reporting to the Registrar.
- The Professional Practice & Ethics Committee is asked to schedule and arrange for a final Ethics workshop to be offered prior to the end of June 2004.
- A $10 fee for replacements of each document or certificate was instituted.
- The Registration Committee in consultation with the Registrar is asked to develop a policy and procedure for MRA assessment to apply to College members who gain full licensure after July 1, 2003 yet before the new procedures are fully instituted.
- The Office & Personnel Committee is asked to look into office décor and possibly hosting a display of Art that may be for sale.
- Approval was given to post the Website Committee's FAQ detailing, "What should you expect when seeing a Psychologist?" A special thanks is extended to the committee members for their ongoing work and efforts.
- Upon the recommendation of the PCC a representative is being sent to the upcoming Infonex Conference in Toronto dealing with professional conduct investigations.
- As considered at the SCP Annual meeting in March 2003, two Bylaw Amendment proposals for The Psychologists Act, 1997, have been prepared by Legal Counsel and approved for submission to the Government. These will a) require approval of a 2/3 majority of voting members to make Bylaws changes; b) increase the flexibility of the Registrar and College in granting Restricted Licenses.
- Meetings between CPA reps and Psychology staff at the Universities in Saskatoon & Regina along with SCP Executive Council are being explored.
- Approval was given to K. Todd to represent the College at the upcoming ASPPB Supervision Conference, Oct. 16-19, 2003.

Upcoming Council meetings were set for September 27th, Oct. 25th and Nov. 29th.
