Executive Council Highlights
Highlights of August 28, 2004 Meeting
Location: SCP Offices 348 Albert St., Regina
Meeting called to order at 10:10 a.m.
Present: The Registrar and all Council members were present.
- The question of recognition of pre-doctoral internship was referred to the Ad Hoc Committee on Competence. S. Adams will also discuss it with the MRA regulators.
- The administrative Bylaw 46-6 of the Psychologist’s Act was amended to read “A late fee of $10.00 per day be applied to fees paid after December 1 up to a maximum penalty of $200.00.”
- G. Golem was designated to attend the ASPPB’s conference in Atlanta, Georgia on October 20-23 and report back to the Council. S. Adams was named as alternate.
- It was agreed that the MRA requirement would apply for all applicants who applied as of July 1, 2004 and that anyone not meeting these requirements would not be eligible for full-practicing licensure. However, the MRA requirement for Foundational Knowledge will be considered separately from the qualifying degree for the purpose of provisional licensure. Those granted a provisional license with an accepted degree will have a two year window for meeting the Foundational Knowledge requirement for MRA in addition to their degree.
- In response to a query from the Registrar, the Executive Council affirmed that grand-parented members who applied for APE would be considered under the grand-parenting procedure provided they applied within 3 years of the time they had been licensed.
- To better meet the ongoing work demands of the College in a timely and cost-effective manner for all members, Council decided that a Deputy Registrar was required. The position was to be posted by September 4th. Closing dates for applications was September 20th 2004.
- In view of the need for increased staffing and for a reserve fund for litigation, a fee increase of 10% was necessary for 2004-2005.
- Dr. Glenn Pancyr indicated that his term as SCP representative for the U. of S. Senate was finished. Thanks to Glenn for his representation.
The meeting adjourned at 4:20 p.m.
Future meetings were tentatively scheduled for September 25th and October 16th 2004.
