Executive Council Highlights

Highlights of October 25, 2003 Meeting

Location:SCP Offices 348 Albert St., Regina

Meeting called to order at 10:10 am.

Present: All Executive members were present together with the Registrar.

  1. The opportunity to meet with CPA Board members, Faculty from both Universities and other practicing Clinical & Educational psychologists in Regina and Saskatoon was determined to be most valuable. Council members hoped that this event would lead to future meetings between all parties to jointly work on strengthening the practice of Psychology in Saskatchewan.
  2. The key work on converting files and establishing the College database was completed. Council extended it thanks to D. Blackman for the time and effort he had provided for this task.
  3. Wendy Petrisor was hired to be the new Office Manager/bookkeeper.
  4. To improve on the efficiency of the College financial operations, tenders were being sought from local financial institutions in Regina.
  5. Kelly Michalko resigned from the Registration Committee and upon the recommendation of the Saskatchewan Educational Psychology Association, Dr. Ruth Wong was appointed.
  6. An Ad Hoc Committee on Competencies was established, with it members to be appointed by the Registration Committee, to examine the question of declared competences and provide recommendations to it and Council.
  7. For the upcoming holiday season the SCP Office would be closed from Dec. 25th, ‘03 and reopen on Jan. 2nd, ‘04.
  8. Committee members are still being sought from PSS and the former SPA to sit on the Legislation & Bylaws Committee.
  9. K. Todd reported on the ASPPB Annual meeting she attended Oct. 15-19 in Scottsdale, AZ, which focused on issues of supervision in psychology practice.

Meeting adjourned at 4:25 pm.
Upcoming Council meetings were planned for Nov. 29th, '03 and Jan. 10th, '04.
