Executive Council Highlights
Highlights of June 25, 2005 Meeting

Meeting called to order at 10:12 am.

- Bylaw amendments concerning The Professional Corporations Act and Limited Liability Partnerships were resubmitted to the Government with modifications suggested by their advisors.
- S. Jacobson and D. Randall reported on the Council of Provincial Associations of Psychology (CPAP) meeting they attended. The delegates discussed such issues as Internet degrees, the establishment of the Association of Canadian Regulatory Organizations (ACRO) and MRA portability. S. Jacobson reported that most jurisdictions appeared to support the criteria of a residency requirement as part of a degree, but no agreement was reached among the representatives. The next CPAP meeting will be in Ottawa in January 2006.
- The Discipline Committee heard and took action in its first case on April 22nd. According to the legislation, disciplinary findings must be published. In order to meet this legal requirement Council directed that the Disciplinary Committee’s Orders will be posted on the College website.
- After examining the benefits of having a provincial on-line Directory and various approaches followed in other provinces, Council approved the set-up of a “Regional Directory of Psychologists” to be available on the College website. Information forms will be posted on the Internet in the near future; paper documents will accompany the membership renewal mail-out.
- Tentative plans were made for a fall meeting with University department representatives, PSS and SEPA reps.
- Invitations are being sent to the Chairs of all the committees to meet on afternoon of September 17th. In order to reduce travel costs, Council plans to meet at 7:00 p.m. the evening of Friday, September 16th and the morning Saturday September 17th to deal with other College business.
- D. Randall presented a written report including information regarding membership numbers. As of June 25th there were 364 full-practicing members, 46 non-practicing and 47 restricted members. He noted that there were 15 Restricted/Provisional members awaiting Orals and 26 incomplete applications.
- New Appointments:
- D. Boyes and D. Ware were appointed to the 2005-2006 Nomination Committee.
- D. Alexander was appointed to the Registration Committee.
Meeting adjourned at 4:10 pm.
Upcoming meetings were tentatively scheduled for August 20th, Sept. 16th and 17th and Oct. 15th.
