Executive Council Highlights

 Highlights of October 20, 2006 Meeting

Location: The meeting was called to order at the SCP Office at 4:00 p.m.

  1. There are currently 489 members in the College including 382 Full Practising, 62 Provisional and 45 Non-Practising. Twelve Provisional members are awaiting their Oral Exams. There are six applications pending.
  2. The Invitation to Dialogue meeting between Council and representatives from the University of Regina , University of Saskatoon , the Psychology Residency Program, Sask. Health, Sask. Learning, the Psychological Society of Saskatchewan and the Saskatchewan Association of Educational Psychologists was held October 20th. The meeting started at 11:05 a.m. and ended at 3:00 p.m. Attendees agreed that meeting had been valuable and that a similar meeting should be scheduled in 2007.
  3. The Oral Examination Committee is organizing a round of oral exams scheduled for November 24, 2006 . The Oral Examination Handbook for examinees will be posted on the College website.
  4. The following policies and advisories were approved by Council
    • The advisory on Professional Conduct Committee Policy and Procedure – Alternative Dispute Resolutions and Mediation was approved and will be posted on the website.
    • The advisory Use of Title, Title Format and Abbreviation has been amended to require disclosure of credentials on all professional psychological documents.
    • The policy Non-Practice Membership Status was amended to clarify that members with Provisional Registration cannot move to Non-Practice status. Effective December 31, 2007 any Provisional Members in the Non-Practicing Member category will be required to revert back to Provisional status. Provisional members will be allowed to have the time limit suspended for reasons acceptable to the Registration Committee such as medical leave.
    • Policies regarding Limited Liability Partnerships and Professional Corporations were accepted.
  5. At the Nomination Committee’s request Council declared Friday, March 2nd, 2007 as Polling Day with 5:00 p.m. being the deadline for receipt of ballots.
