Executive Council Highlights

Highlights of November 20, 2004 Meeting

Location: SCP Offices 348 Albert St., Regina

Meeting called to order at 10:25 a.m.

Present: All the Council members except L. Loutzenheiser were present.
Guests: M. Rasmussen;(Legal Counsel); D. Berg (Chair, Professional Conduct Committee)
Others: D. Randall, Registrar; K. Messer-Engel, Deputy Registrar

  1. Executive Council welcomed K. Messer-Engel, the new Deputy Registrar. Though she has already attended several events, her half-time duties officially commence Nov. 29, 2004.
  2. M. Rasmussen provided guidance for Council on several questions that had legal ramifications and gave an update of changes to the Act and Bylaws not yet completed.
  3. D. Berg, Chair of the Professional Conduct Committee joined Council for lunch. Two new PCC members will hopefully be available to join the committee soon. He expressed appreciation for the work done by D. Randall and W. Petrisor and was looking forward to working with K. Messer-Engel.
  4. F. Stewart will soon step down from his position as Chair of the Registration Committee. Thanks were expressed for his years of service on the Registration Committee and the Transition Council. A new member will be recruited to replace him.
  5. G. Golem reported on the ASPPB Conference. Topics for discussion at the conference included the EPPP, treatment for professionals who had problems with addiction, prescriptive authority for psychologists, the CPQ (Certificate of Professional Qualification in Psychology) and several legal updates. He presented documents that will be circulated to other College committees.
  6. In anticipation of the new fiscal year, J. Curry presented a draft budget for 2005 that delineates the basic fiscal operations required for the College.
  7. The membership of the College is now at 456 with 53 pending at different stages of application. One appeal hearing was scheduled.

The meeting adjourned at 4:45 p.m.
Future meetings were tentatively scheduled for December 18th 2004 and for January 15th, February 19th, and March 12th 2005.
