Highlights of August 20, 2005 Meeting

- The Professional Corporations Bylaw and the Limited Liability Partnerships Bylaw were approved and will be filed with Saskatchewan Justice. After enactment and publication in the Saskatchewan Gazette the College will begin accepting applications for incorporation.
- A joint meeting between the Chairs of all the SCP Committees and Council has been set for September 17th, 2005 in Regina to review and coordinate the work of the College.
- Invitations were sent to representatives from the training programs at the University of Saskatchewan and the University of Regina, as well as PSS and SEPA for a meeting with Council in Regina on Friday October 14th. This session will provide an opportunity to review developments and issues around training and practice in the province.
- D. Randall reported that there were a total of 461 members on the Register. He noted that 17 members were waiting for Oral Interviews. An Oral Interview Committee has been formed and is working to expedite the Oral Interview process. Anyone willing to help administer the Orals, please contact D. Randall at the SCP Office or by e-mail at skcp@sasktel.net.
- Policies regarding the EPPP, Continuing Education Credits, and Incomplete Oral Examinations were approved and will be posted on the College website. Thanks were expressed to K. Messer-Engel for her work on these policies.
- After questions about the status of Psychologists on the National Register and consultations with other Provincial bodies, Council has established a policy that individuals on this Register would be accepted as MRA eligible, but anyone with no prior Canadian experience would be required to complete a 3 month period of supervision in the Canadian Code of Ethics, Codes of Conduct and local jurisprudence.
- Following questions of MRA interpretation in Alberta, an individual requesting registration in Saskatchewan was accepted under MRA provisions, having completed 5 years of discipline free practice.

Upcoming meetings were tentatively scheduled for August 20th, Sept. 16th and 17th and Oct. 15th.
