Executive Council Highlights
Highlights of June 19, 2004 Meeting
Location: SCP Offices 348 Albert St., Regina
Meeting called to order at 10:20 a.m.
Present: The Registrar and all Council members were present except one who sent regrets.
- Legislative assent was granted for the Amendments to Psychology Act. The Legislation & Bylaws Committee will be asked to develop the bylaws to support the Amendments to the Psychology Act.
- Dr. Randall & S. Adams met with representatives from the SASW to review the Memo of Understanding specifying that any complaints regarding professionals registered with the SASW that were received by SCP would be forwarded to SASW for investigation.
- Actions needed in response to the Limitations Act were reviewed. This Act will have implications for all psychologists in terms of legal liability and retention of records. The Professional Practices and Ethics Committee will be requested to formulate an opinion or draft an advisory and to direct members on the need for carrying professional insurance.
- George Golem was appointed to the one-year Member at Large Council position and Dr. Tim Landry was added to the alternate list on the Professional Conduct Committee
- The Executive Council decided that whenever letters of good standing are requested either to be sent from the College or needed by the College the applicant will be asked to provide informed consent to share current info regarding any complaints and disciplinary actions against them.
- Beginning in 2005 the SCP will require members to document and report continuing education credits as recommended by the Professional Practice & Ethics Committee. An implementation plan will be finalized by November 2004.
- Dr. Randall and F. Lalonde reported on the security information presented by R. Gary Dickson, Saskatchewan Information and Privacy Commissioner at the NIRO meeting June 1, 2004.
- On its recommendation the Website Committee was disbanded. Considerable appreciation was noted for the excellent job they completed.
The meeting adjourned at 5:00 p.m.
Future meetings were tentatively scheduled for July 17th and August 28th 2004.
