Executive Council Highlights
Highlights of April 17, 2004 Meeting
Location:SCP Offices 348 Albert St., Regina
Meeting called to order at 10:15 am.
Present: All Executive members were present.
- Notice was received that the amendments to the Bylaws of the Psychologists Act would be presented in Saskatchewan’s Legislative Assembly on April 20th. G. Halbert agreed to represent the College.
- The AGM meeting was reviewed. Appreciation was expressed for the guidance provided by M. Rasmussen, Legal Council.
- As directed at the annual meeting, Council has asked office staff to gather information from other regulatory bodies on annual licensing fees.
- Council members expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to meet with representatives from the Psychology and Educational Psychology programs at U. of S. and U. of R. as well as PSS and SEPA. Based on these discussions, Council acted to give initial approval for the MRA amendment on Foundational Knowledge and to explore concerns over pre-Doctoral Internships and the EPPP.
- Gary Halbert agreed to accept an appointment to the position of President-Elect.
- Next year’s AGM was scheduled for March 19, 2005 in Saskatoon.
- The Treasurer reported that the question of electronic payment of fees was investigated and found to not be financially feasible.
- President S. Adams will represent SCP at the ASPPB World Congress in Montreal April 21st to 23rd.
- The Registrar, Dr. D. Randall, was recommended to be the Saskatchewan representative CRHSPP member for a 2 year term.
- The Executive Council expressed its appreciation for J. Tom’s generous donation of a refrigerator for the SCP office.
- Appointments were made to fill positions on the Registration Committee, the Professional Conduct Committee, the Nominating Committee, the Mental Health Sector Study Group, and the Office and Personnel Committee. An ad hoc committee on competence was formed and three members were appointed.
- On a trial basis the SCP office hours schedule for this summer was set at 3 days per week from July2 to August 23 2004 with the office closed for staff holidays July 19th to August 6th.
Meeting adjourned at 3:30 pm.
Future meetings were tentatively scheduled for May 15th, June 19th and July 17th, 2004.
