Executive Council Highlights

Highlights of October 16, 2004 Meeting

Location: SCP Offices 348 Albert St., Regina

Meeting called to order at 10:25 a.m.

Present: All the Council members except L. Loutzenheiser were present.

  1. Council received minutes from the orientation meeting and the AGM held on March 27, 2004 as well as a draft agenda for the orientation meeting being planned for March 19, 2005. Thanks were expressed to R. Cherland for the work done on these documents.
  2. Legal counsel M. Rasmussen was invited to attend the November Council meeting to provide legal opinions on a variety of questions.
  3. Under administrative bylaw 24-2, the SCP mileage rates are tied to those established by the Public Service Commission. As of October 1st, the PSC mileage rate changed. Council endorsed adoption of the new rate effective Nov. 1, 2004.
  4. The Office and Personnel Committee was authorized to hire a part-time Deputy Registrar with salary based on the HSAS wage scale. Interviews were scheduled for the beginning of November.
  5. In response to legal advice, Council moved that the Professional Conduct Committee be informed that, the College accepts the responsibility of investigation and discipline of complaints against its members and that non-payment of fees, resignation as a member, or departure from the province does not deprive the College of jurisdiction to proceed with action on a complaint.
  6. A draft advisory regarding Continuing Education Credits was received. Continuing Education Credits from 2005 will be required for renewal of licensure in 2006.
  7. Dr. Randall agreed to represent the College at the Canadian Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology (CRHSPP) meetings.
  8. It was agreed that the College would store sets of archival copies of AGM minutes and newsletters for PSS and SEPA as long as there was space available.

The meeting adjourned at 4:50 p.m.
Future meetings were tentatively scheduled for November 20th, and December 18th 2004 and for January 15th, February 19th, and March 12th 2005.
