Executive Council Highlights
Highlights of May 15, 2004 Meeting
Location:SCP Offices 348 Albert St., Regina
Meeting called to order at 10:20 am.
Present: All Executive members and Dr. Randall were present.
- G. Halbert attended the second reading of the Amendments to the Psychology Act in the legislature. Though the session adjourned without the amendments being accepted, the speakers were supportive of the amendments and positive about psychology in the province of Saskatchewan.
- President S. Adams attended the CPAP meetings concerning the MRA. There was general agreement to Saskatchewan’s proposal regarding MRA, but no motions were put forward. The CPA was asked to amend the MRA.
- Complaints and concerns had been expressed about the EPPP testing site. S. Adams followed up on these and a contact for addressing such concerns can be obtained from the SCP Office Manager. Dr. Randall will be requesting feedback regarding the facilities from members who have completed the exam.
- All currently identified appeals of the Registration Committee decisions are scheduled to be dealt with on July 16, 2004.
- The Committee Guide presented by R. Cherland was accepted with some additions and amendments. Thank you to Mr. Cherland for all his work on this document.
- Members were appointed to the Registration Committee, the Professional Conduct Committee; the Professional Practice & Ethics Committee, and to the Ad Hoc Committee on Competence. Recruitment continues for the Member at Large position and other committees.
- The Ethics Workshop was well attended and well received. Dr. Randall did a section on local jurisprudence.
- The Professional Practice and Ethics Committee provided a draft structure for continuing education credits. These were discussed and several questions were to be forwarded to the Committee.
- Members of the executive or of the various committees may desire that their employers be informed appointment or election and the duties that SCP has asked them to perform. On request a letter will be provided to a designated manager/supervisor.

Future meetings were tentatively scheduled for June 19th and July 17th, 2004
