Executive Council Highlights

 Highlights of July 5, 2006 Meeting

Location:new SCP Offices 348 Albert St., Regina

Meeting called to order at 10:00 am.

Present: D. Blackman (President and Chair), J. Curry, J. Dudgeon, S. Jacobson, W. Lyons , M. Reeves, M. Vandergoot, L. Vilness, F. Lalonde (Recorder)

  1. D. Blackman welcomed Peter Hemingway to the Council meeting and thanked him for accepting the position of Deputy Registrar.
  2. Registrar K. Messer-Engel reported that as of July 15, 2006 there were 473 members in the College.
  3. M. Vandergoot reported good progress in the preparations for the Annual General Meeting and Workshop which will be held at the Boffins Club in Saskatoon on March 24, 2007 .
  4. D. Blackman presented a report on the April meeting of the Association of State and Provincial Psychology Boards (ASPPB). This information is posted on the College website at http://www.skcp.ca/asppb-apr06.pdf. Council agreed to send a representative to the next ASPPB meeting to be held October 25th to 29th 2006.
  5. Council accepted a proposal from CPYou Computer Solutions to develop the Regional Directory and to provide ongoing support and staff training for the College website.
  6. J. Curry noted that $1750 was received from the Oral Examinations fees. This amount provided partial recovery of the $3326 expenditures required for the oral exams.
  7. Council decided to implement the following changes to the Oral Examination panels and procedures:
  • All Oral Examination panel members must have at least 1 year experience working as Full Practice Members of the College.
  • The majority of Oral Examination panel members for a competency exam must have Authorized Practice Endorsement.
  • All members of Authorized Practice Endorsement Examination Panels must have their APE endorsement and a minimum of one year experience as Full Practice Member.
  • The Oral Examination process will include an automatic review of all failures of the APE part of the examination.
  • The Oral Examination Committee will screen work samples prior to allowing an applicant to proceed to the oral examination.
