Executive Council Highlights

 Highlights of September 15 & 16, 2006 Meeting

Location: The meeting was called to order at the SCP Office at 7:10 p.m.; recessed at 9:00 p.m. and reconvened at 9:08 at the Bridge Room of the Best Western Seven Oaks Inn.

Present: The entire Council was present for the September 15th meeting. W. Streelasky sent his regrets for the September 16th meeting.

Others: K. Messer-Engel, Registrar

  1. As of September 15, 2006 there were 482 members in the College with 7 additional applications pending.
  2. Council accepted the following proposals from the Registration Committee
    1. that any member undertaking to be the primary supervisor of a Provisionary Member must have a minimum of 1 year experience as a Full Practicing Member.
    2. that a minimum grade of 70% be required in each of the areas of Foundational Knowledge.
  3. The Professional Practices and Ethics Committee requested guidance from Council regarding their responses to questions posed by members. Council moved that that any decisions issued as ethical advice by members of the Professional Practices and Ethics Committee should be the result of Committee discussion and decisions and that any questions posed to individual members of the Committee should be brought to the Committee for discussion.
  4. The Regional Directory has been well-received and several people have asked to be added to it. W. Petrisor will be trained to maintain the Directory and will update it quarterly.
  5. M. Vandergoot reported that the arrangements for the AGM and Workshop are nearly completed.
  6. K. Messer-Engel will present information about the College and the registration process to the League of Educational Administrators, Directors and Superintendents (LEADS) on September 22.
  7. Council accepted the policy Time Limits on Appeals of Registration Decisions to Council . A c omplete copy of the policy is available upon request from the SCP office.

The Council meeting on September 16 th adjourned at 12:00 noon . A meeting of the Council and the Committees commenced at 1:12 p.m.
