Executive Council Highlights

Highlights of May 14, 2005 Meeting

Location:SCP Offices 348 Albert St., Regina

Meeting called to order at 12:10 am.

Present: All the Council members

Others: D. Randall, Registrar; K. Messer-Engel, Deputy-Registrar

  1. Council adopted the following policies:
    • Automatic Review of Oral Examination Failures by the Registration Committee or Designates
    • Privacy of Member Information
    • Academic Credentialing
    • Automatic Review of Oral Examination Failures by the Registration Committee or Designates
    • Term of Membership
    • Authorized Practice Endorsement.

    Thanks to K. Messer-Engel for her work preparing these documents.
  2. K. Messer-Engel also submitted several service advisories that will be appearing on the website in the near future. These included the following documents: Authorized Practice Endorsement (APE); Oral Examination Incomplete Passes/Failures; and How long is one considered a member of the Saskatchewan College of Psychologists?
  3. New appointments:
    • Tammy D Dusterbeck, Heather Hadjastropolous and Tania Safnuk were appointed to the Oral Examination Committee.
    • Rupal Bonli was appointed as a full member of the Professional Conduct Committee.
    • Don Berg was appointed as an alternate.
  4. After considering the approach followed in other provinces the Council agreed that SCP should accept the National Register of Health Service Providers in Psychology (NRHSP) credentials as being MRA compliant
  5. Further exploration was done for a web-based Regional Directory of Psychologists that should facilitate member and public contact with psychologists for referrals or services. Emphasis was placed on the need for all information posted to be submitted voluntarily by members. D. Blackman agreed to facilitate the implementation of this service.

Upcoming meetings were tentatively scheduled for June 25th, July 23rd, August 20th and Sept 17th 2005.
