Executive Council Highlights

Highlights of January 10, 2004 Meeting

Location:SCP Offices 348 Albert St., Regina

Meeting called to order at 10:20 am.

Present: All Executive members and the Registrar were present.

  1. Members are urgently needed to work in essential Committees of the College.
  2. Council noted the end to the Bylaw Grandparent provisions that occurs Feb. 29, ’04.
  3. The Registrar and President continue to consult with the College’s Legal Council and Sask. Health reps over the draft Amendments to be considered for the Bylaws.
  4. The President was continuing to contact Sask. Health to request the appointments of Public Reps as legally required. Hopefully these reps might be obtained soon to attend a possible orientation session prior to the AGM.
  5. The Nominations Committee sent out the Call for Nominations and Polling Day was set for March 12, 2004. The deadline for nominations was noted to be Jan. 27th and ballots would be mailed by Feb. 10th.
  6. Committee Guidelines, which outline appointments, member terms, basic procedures and communication with Council were drafted and provided to each Chairperson for review, comments and suggestions.
  7. The Registrar and D. Blackman reported on their meeting with the Directors of Mental Health at which they discussed the role of the College as outlined in the Bylaws, along with registration needs and important role of supervision.
  8. CPAP and CRHSPP meetings are scheduled for Jan. 22 to 29th in Ottawa. The Registrar and S. Adams plan to attend CPAP and possibly observe CRHSPP.
  9. Detailed plans began for the March 27th,’04 AGM. Notice would be sent out along with a new Annual Member Registration Card for all Full Practice members.
  10. Jean Lyons part time work in the College office ends Jan. 30th and a lunch was planned to express the appreciation of all for her contributions.
  11. Invitations are being sent out to hold a meeting with Reps from both Provincial Universities and fraternal organizations. This meeting can hopefully explore shared training, supervision and registration concerns and ongoing ways to work together in promoting the professional practice of psychology.
  12. Council members expressed their continued appreciation and thanks to the Website Committee for its ongoing work in updating information needed by all members.

Upcoming Council meetings were tentatively planned for Feb. 7th and Mar. 13th, ‘04.
